Last week the Kindergarten classes at Rylie's school took part in their science experiments they call "Eureka" - this is a super fun time for all the kids. They do this one day every six weeks & each grade level does it on a different day. This time I was lucky enough to be able to volunteer while Rylie's class had their turn (Ellis was home part of the morning & was able to keep Chase). Their first ever Eureka experiment was learning about the use of magnifying glasses & how to recognize pictures of items that had been magnified. To explain better - all around the room are tables set up w/ aluminum tins filled w/ different items. The children come in two classes at a time, are given a small lecture on science, etc., then each kid is given a magnifying glass & a sheet of paper w/ 8 different enlarged pictures on it. They get to do a "scavenger hunt" around the room looking for the items that are magnified on their sheet & trying to figure out what it is! They all had a blast! Rylie thought I was there to be her personal assistant & show her where to look for it all. All the kids are so cute & had fun taking part in this experiment. I can't wait to see what the next Eureka experiment is & Rylie is constantly asking me when it's going to be science day again!!! I have been having a wonderful time volunteering at Rylie's school & hope to get to do all the Eureka days w/ her!
